This beautiful apartment building sits at the confluence of three canals, close to public transportation, and right in the middle of Lowell's downtown area. Appleton Mills is a great opportunity for those who make art and those who truly appreciate it.

Ayer Lofts (adjacent to Ayer Lofts Art Gallery)

172 Middle St.

A private developer, Edward A. Fish Associates, Inc. of Boston, converted this historic downtown building to residential units -- many of which are used as live/work artist space -- with retail and exhibit space for an art gallery (Ayer Lofts Gallery) conveniently housed on the ground floor of the building. The project was completed in spring of 2000. Open concept spaces mix with traditional condo units, available for rent (by owners) and for purchase. Ayer Lofts is in a great downtown location along a lovely cobblestone street just across from the New England Quilt Museum and around the corner from the Lowell National Historical Park Visitor Center.

Western Avenue Lofts (adjacent to Western Avenue Studios)

160 Western Ave.

Western Avenue Lofts , opened in 2012, has 50 affordably priced live/work loft spaces. The 25-foot-wide column spacing in the building allows for wide-open spaces with tremendous light and a range of unit size. The Lofts are adjacent to Western Avenue Studios - making life there part of a supportive and diverse artist community.  Many Loft residents participate in the monthly Open Studios held at Western Avenue.  The Lofts are rental units, and artist certification is required. Loft availability changes throughout the year. Visit our website for more information.
