COOL Pop-Up Galleries will transform empty storefronts in downtown Lowell into active and vibrant spaces for public art galleries, exhibitions, installations, and various arts programming, including screenings and performances.
COOL is initiating a series of Pop-Up Gallery spaces to coalesce with our ongoing directive of bridging the arts and businesses of downtown Lowell. This is an exciting new venture that has many benefits to a broad range of existent and potential stakeholders within the arts and business communities. Our Pop-Up Galleries will provide downtown venues for artists and visitors as well as creatively activate a vacant or underused space.
If you are an artist or curator interested in submitting a proposal, please download the Application Packet and Form here. We are currently accepting proposals on a rolling basis, and our staff will notify you upon receipt of your submission. If your proposal is accepted, we will work with you when an appropriate space becomes available.
COOL recognizes this initiative as a unique opportunity for both artists and businesses. Pop-Up Galleries provide prime, downtown gallery space for artists as well as possible sales opportunities, and they are an exciting concept that will draw new forms of exhibition to our artist community as well as inspire collaboration for future downtown gallery walks.
Pop-Ups will repurpose vacant storefronts in a creative, vibrant way and showcase that space’s potential to future renters/owners. The Pop-Up Gallery and subsequent gallery walks will be a destination point that will encourage residents and visitors to come downtown and enjoy an evening of culture and explore the many restaurants and events the city of Lowell has to offer.
