COOL Cultural Organization of Lowell

Cool Places

Since 1998, Lowell has dedicated itself to the development of a thriving Arts District, understanding that through culture, one can revitalize a city. A thriving arts community comprised of visual, literary and performing artists brings vitality to Lowell’s historic downtown.

Lowell National Historical Park, the Arts League of Lowell, 119 Gallery, Whistler House Museum of Art, Angkor Dance Troupe, Merrimack Repertory Theatre, Brush Art Gallery and Western Avenue Studios are examples of the city’s flourishing creative networks.

As the birthplace of cultural icons, such as writer Jack Kerouac, artist James McNeill Whistler, actress Bette Davis and several other legends, Lowell continues to support the arts with passion and perseverance. Whether your tastes are mainstream or cutting edge, there’s something for everyone in the cultural scene and arts community of Lowell.
